WKND PLYLST!! The Final Chapter.....maybe

So the blog is basically shut down. all the links are dead (except these...for now) and the DCMA is making it pretty dang hard for me to share music with you guys despite the FACT that I have the exact same music as every other blog out there like Pretty Much Amazing, Sheena Beaston, Stereogum, Gorilla vs. Bear and so on yet for some bizarre reason they are immune to the shut downs. Whatever. I might resurface in a week or two once I figure out how to proceed without constant harassment from the record companies who I am really just doing a favor anyway!
That being said if I'm going out I wanna go out with a BANG! So suck on this. A HUGE PLYLST just for you. Make sure to tell everyone you know.
Thanks for supporting music and the blog. Here's hoping its not the end!! PARTY

Eat Your Birthday Cake

Pretty easy to handle that. Birthday cake is delicious and so are the tunes coming out of Philly,PA. They make music that makes me want to go for a long drive on a warm summer night and watch the lighting bugs fly around. Start a fire in an empty Barn and watch it burn as the moon rises higher and higher in the sky. They have an EP out now. Get on it. Go live free

The Wooden Sky

I like camping. I like it a lot. I like it even more when songs remind me of those experiences. With every note I can feel the trees and smell that amazing smell of the fire crackling and blowing in the wind. Sitting beside it getting warm. And then the feeling of hiking through the mountains with friends and being able to see the world as it was meant to be.
The Wooden Sky seems to embody this rustic view of the world. Their new album came out last fall but I seem to just be stumbling upon it and I am glad I have. Rambling along in their songs is like riding in a wagon where sometimes the road is slow and bumpy and other times you are rollicking along as fast as you can. A great alt country outfit that I can recommend to you.

Power UP

Sometimes you just need some mustache classic rock music!! Your Welcome!!

Mighty Tiger

Seattle band Mighty Tiger have a catchy sound indeed. This indie band makes super catchy guitar driven indie songs. Their harmonies are simple yet lovely. They have an album coming out in March so make sure to mark your calendars. It'll be a winner! If you feel like riding your bike through a field of sunflowers and then running through a creek with your jeans rolled up then Mighty Tiger is the band for you. Full of youthful exuberance and care free fun! YAY for FUN!

Monday Monday

The weekend is over and Monday is here. This promises to be a good week with lots of good things happening. I have to tell myself that. But I need to believe it. I was sent some tracks from a band called Golden Ages over the weekend and turns out I really dig the sound. Imagine with Animal Collective and Washed out and the Polyphonic Spree all got together and decided to play with each other on a song. That is sort of the feel I get from these guys. Nice build with ebb and flow. So sit back in you chair and close your eyes and drift away.

WKND PLYLST!! Burn it at both Ends!

So yeah yeah the weekend is here and it is gonna be a hell of a time! So much crazy stuff going on this week. Fake Justice is out a supposed new track by Daft Punk...the electro world is a bit on tilt from all the hype. Also found out that I might be helping throw the infamous Anthem Coachella party again. I am super psyched about this as I have helped out in the past and it is always insanity in the sun! Get ready for that. This weeks playlist is full of a lot of great stuff and just some fun tracks throw in for kicks. Whatever you are doing this weekend, whether playing in the snow or chillin out here in Cali in sunny and 70. Boom get it done.
Be safe. Share the PLYLST. PARTY!!!!!

Great Soundtrack 17

This Great Soundtrack really takes on one of the best. 2000's High Fidelity starring John Cusack. This movie was amazing in so many ways. It for one is based on the excellent book by Nick Hornby and seems to really capture the audiophile in his own habitat. John Cusack of course nails the role as the self deprecating man who seems to love his music more than anything else in his life. Complete with a myriad of mixtapes this movie is excellent. The songs that were chosen to be in the movie only enhance the greatness of this film. A really versatile soundtrack but a wonderful companion piece. I have to say that the single best song on it for me would have to be the Stevie Wonder track. I love that song! It is just some of the best music out there! If you haven't seen the movie, then go watch it now and then immediately buy the soundtrack!

13th Floor Elevators - You're Gonna Miss Me
John Wesley Harding - I'm Wrong About Everything
Love - Always See Your Face
Shiela Nicholls - Fallen for You
Bob Dylan - Most of the Time
Smog - Cold Blooded Old Times
Stereolab - Lo Boob Oscillator
Royal Trux - Inside Game

BONUS Music from the Film

DMV vs. ME

So this morning I have my long dreaded appointment with the DMV. Hopefully all will go well and the 3 issues I have to deal with will be resolved in a timely fashion. To help me power my way through that I have the help of The Mynabirds. I think this will provide the perfect soundtrack to what ails me. I only wish there was more of this soulful song bird but I guess I'll have to wait until april.

They're BACK!!!!!

Just when you almost forgot about Justice they wrangle you back in. Here's hoping there is sooooo much more to come.

Justice - Beginning of the End (FAKE) see comment below from the Ed Banger crew. Bummer but to be expected

Life's a Beach House

Beach House's album is out today and I think you should go buy it. Im sure you have all by now heard Norway and other songs off the record (as they have been featured on the WKND PLYLST a few times now). Full of light but poppy songs that seems to drift above your head like a cloud full of sunshine. Great album...Great band...
